BOWLING GREEN — When Mid-American Conference men’s basketball schedules are released each year, the cry from fans always is the same.
“Why are we playing Oakland City?” they lament. Or “Why are we playing Central Penn? Or Ohio Christian? Or Midway College?”
And that is a complaint no MAC school can escape. Every school in the Division I league plays at least one opponent from a lower level — whether it is Division II, Division III, NAIA, or some other classification. What’s more, half of the league’s schools play more than one.
Eastern Michigan plays four such games, hosting Spring Arbor, Michigan-Dearborn, Central State, and Rochester, while Central Michigan plays hosts Siena Heights, Eureka College, and Lawrence Tech.
