Bill Hamid out for six weeks with knee surgery

As first reported by Steve Goff, D.C. United and US Men’s national team goalkeeper Bill Hamid had surgery on his right knee on Monday. We can further confirm that Hamid had arthroscopic surgery on the knee, which he aggravated during preparations for the national team camp. This is the same knee that he had surgery on last preseason, which kept him out until late May; this time, however, he should only be out for approximately 6 weeks, which places his recovery time right about the start of the season.

Travis Worra is the primary backup for Hamid, having beaten out Andrew Dykstra last year; Dykstra was selected in the Re-Entry Draft by Sporting Kansas City.
