Curt Onalfo to coach L.A. Galaxy and other MLS notes

The Los Angeles Galaxy on Tuesday will introduce Curt Onalfo as head coach, the Insider has learned. News of Onalfo’s hiring appeared on the Insider’s Twitter page mid-day Monday.

Onalfo, 47, will replace Bruce Arena, who accepted the U.S. national team job two weeks ago.

Onalfo, a University of Virginia graduate, joined the L.A. organization six years ago as an assistant coach and oversaw the Galaxy’s third-division team the past three USL seasons. With several L.A. prospects on the squad, Los Dos posted a 41-25-20 regular season record in Onalfo’s tenure.

This is his third MLS head coaching gig following spells with Kansas City (2007-09) and D.
