D.C. United’s MLS home opener has been pushed back one day in order to accommodate national TV coverage, a club official said Tuesday.
The match against the Colorado Rapids will be played on March 20 instead of March 19, a Sunday instead of a Saturday, at 5 p.m. instead of 4 p.m., and appear on ESPN2 instead of the local rights holder (ABC7 / NewsChannel 8).
United will actually make its RFK Stadium debut March 1 against Mexico’s Queretaro in the second leg of the CONCACAF Champions League quarterfinals.
Two weeks ago, MLS announced the regular season home openers for all 20 clubs.
