BALTIMORE – D.C. United learned Thursday that star goalkeeper Bill Hamid will miss several months with a knee injury, a major setback that overshadowed the club’s activity at the MLS draft.
With the 11th overall pick, two slots higher than where it began the day, United selected German midfielder Julian Buescher, who played two seasons at Syracuse.
The bigger news, however, centered on Hamid, the league’s goalkeeper of the year in 2014 and a finalist last season. He injured his right knee during offseason workouts in Washington and reported, as scheduled, to the U.S. national team last weekend in Los Angeles.
