BALTIMORE — Defender Josh Yaro, who this month left Georgetown with a year of eligibility remaining, was chosen second overall in the MLS draft Thursday by the Philadelphia Union.
Philadelphia acquired the pick from the Colorado Rapids on draft day for allocation money and a player to be named later.
Yaro, a native of Ghana who attended prep school in California, guided the Hoyas to three NCAA tournament appearances and marshaled a backline that included several MLS prospects.
With the first pick, the Chicago Fire selected Wake Forest freshman midfielder Jack Harrison, a native of England.
