Balls were hitting the net at a tremendous rate in this week's Power Rankings.
Week 28 had 12 matches coming off the international window, and teams did not hesitate to put their best foot forward. In a week that saw the opening of the NFL as well as week 2 of college football, there were plenty of reasons to put the local MLS match on. 44 goals were scored in those 12 matches, a 3.67 goal/game average. That's a lot of balls flying past goalkeepers into the back of the net. Many of those goals were needed by teams fighting for playoff spots and hoping to catch up to FC Dallas at the top of the Supporters Shield standings.
