On consecutive Sundays, the Georgetown women’s soccer team upset two of the nation’s elite teams.
So maybe it’s time to stop calling them upsets and start calling the Hoyas an elite team.
A week after stunning third-ranked Virginia with a two-goal comeback, Georgetown went on the road and defeated No. 2 West Virginia, 1-0, in extra time for its seventh consecutive victory. Grace Damaska scored in the 102nd minute for the Hoyas (8-1-0), who were ranked No. 18 in the coaches’ poll last week.
Two-plus weeks ago, visiting Georgetown downed then-No. 12 Rutgers, 2-1, in extra time.
