Wednesday Freedom Kicks: Nuthin but a hero

Well, good morning folks. I stayed up late after the USMNT match at RFK Stadium last night to write this so I’m probably still sleeping off the last week and a half of travel. But while I catch up on some zzz’s, here’s the news:

The United States had to settle for a 1-1 draw against New Zealand, but we did get to see the return of former D.C. United midfielder (and current Hearts captain) Perry Kitchen. Current D.C. United stars Steve Birnbaum and Bill Hamid did not feature.

Jurgen Klinsmann wants to keep the current CONCACAF World Cup qualifying structure in place, with fewer games against the minnows of the confederation and more matches against better competition.
