Bruce Arena has been on the U.S. national team job for 3 1/2 months now, evaluating the talent pool, meeting with players here and abroad, conducting a domestic-oriented training camp and overseeing two low-key friendlies. On Wednesday, he’ll unveil his squad for two imminent World Cup qualifiers and, at the same time, provide the first true window into his plans to lift the United States out of the CONCACAF hexagonal pit and back into contention for a 2018 berth in Russia.

A group of about two-dozen players will begin gathering in San Jose on Sunday ahead of matches against Honduras next Friday at Avaya Stadium and at Panama on March 28.
