MIAMI, Fla. – NM State (7-4, 1-1 CUSA) saw its two-game winning streak come to an end on Thursday afternoon, as FIU (8-5, 1-1 CUSA) pulled away in the second half for an 89-74 victory at the Ocean Bank Convocation Center.
FIU won the opening tip and struck first with a layup from Zawdie Jackson, a familiar face to Aggie fans after serving as NM State's starting point guard last season. The Panthers built early momentum, but the Aggies responded and evened the score at 7-7 following a pair of free throws from Jemel Jones.
