First Quarter Recap: Eagles Trail After Ugly Start

Related Topics: Eagles

The Eagles trail the Redskins 3-0 at the end of the first quarter. The opening drive wasn’t a pretty one for Philadelphia. The offense was called for four consecutive penalties before the first official play from scrimmage. On second down on that first drive, Wentz overthrew a pass intended for wide receiver Torrey Smith that landed in the hands of Redskins cornerback Quinton Dunbar for an interception.

Rookie Derek Barnett earned the first full sack of his career when he brought down Redskins quarterback Kirk Cousins. The play ended the Redskins' drive and forced a punt.
