The Copa America will be Beckerman's sixth international competition with the senior national team. Beckerman and goalkeeper Brad Guzan are the only two players on the roster to have played in a Copa America, when the two starred at the 2007 tournament.
The inclusion of RSL's dreadlocked midfielder spells his absence from the last two matches of RSL's five-game road trip. Beckerman will miss the match at Columbus on March 28 and at New York City FC on June 2.
Klinsmann left RSL goalkeeper Nick Rimando off the 23-man roster, opting to go with youngster Ethan Horvath as the third goalkeeper behind Guzan and Tim Howard.
