When news broke last week that former Virginia Tech wide receiver commit Matthew Outten was hitting the Transfer Portal, it made sense that the Hokies might be in the mix for the Virginia native. First, the Class of 2025 four-star committed to Virginia Tech before flipping his commitment on Labor Day Weekend in 2024 to Penn State.
He signed with the Nittany Lions and spent last season in State College with James Franklin. When Franklin was hired six weeks after getting fired at Penn State, a reunion with Outten seemed to make too much sense. He would be coming home to play for Franklin, who retained former head coach Brent Pry as his defensive coordinator after being fired as head coach.
