The Washington Capitals announced that forward Chandler Stephenson has been reassigned to the Hershey Bears in the AHL.
Stephenson was originally recalled on Jan. 24 to fill in for Jay Beagle, who was scratched against the Ottawa Senators due to illness. Stephenson stayed with the team to participate in the 5-2 win against the New Jersey Devils, filling in for T.J. Oshie, who missed the game due to a family-related matter.
The move suggests the Capitals forwards have a clean bill of health as they head to the All Star break.
For the majority of the season, the Capitals have kept just 21 players on their roster instead of the maximum 23.
